If you end up with just some stuff tagged/categorized and the rest not, you can always of course change your templates to not display the categories (it's pretty easy) and have them remain there safely in the database for the rainy weekend you change your mind and decide to go on another category frenzy...

Interesting topic and one I've been thinking about off and on. As you probably remember especially since you helped me with a permalink problem, I finally, after *years* of having a static "blahg," converted to WordPress in May. I'm a bit of a database kind o' gal from way back and I was initially excited by the idea of tags. So I tagged everything absolutely to death. For a while. And then I stopped. Just like that. It was just too much. I am now toying with the idea of going in there and deleting all the categories. And maybe starting back up with just a *few* categories. Or not. It takes time to mess around with that stuff and I *think* I would rather spend that time doing something more "constructive," whatever that means.

I've been thinking about blahgging about this but you beat me to it. But maybe I still will. One of these days.

Cheers!

OK, JC, this is gonna surprise the heck outta youse (see how I'm picking up NY-speak?), I can't figure out tagging. I understand (I think) what it does, but 1) I don't usually read blogs and such by subject matter - I'm more of a "Wonder what JC's thinking today?" kinda person, and 2) haven't a clue as to how to add them to my blog. Sigh. I'm losing my techno-smarts, I reckon. (Oops, back to South-speak)
