Hey John, our Mac guru of all times! Here's a late (the latest?) happy b'day from Billy & Maureen (and Gillian, of course). I so wish I could've tasted those brownies. Anyway, you're timeless to us, especially as we get older, and you are one of the few who knew us when we were young and dumb (now we're older and probably dumber). Hope it was a good one!

You CAN'T be 50! Why, that would make me . . . um . . . older than that! Not possible. Here's to you and to all of your granfalloons and wampeters. Happy Birthday, JC!

I just saw news of Vonnegut's death this morning, and I was deeply saddened, too. Strangely enough, just a few months ago I pulled out Breakfast of Champions and re-read it. It was nice to have that fresh in my mind when I heard this news. Though as a side note, wonderful as his novels were, I think I liked his short stories even better.

I know Bob and Sam got to talk to you on your birthday, but let me add my belated best wishes, too. I'm so glad Sammy was able to make the day everything you hoped for! You two are among my favorite people in the world and not in small part because of the way you nurture and care for each other!

"There’s probably a ten-dollar word for that quality-of-experience, but it remains one of my favorite ways to connect with the written word."

Would that be presque vu?
