Well, just as the article here says, this small device full of songs is 24 years old today (okay, more or less.) It’s small! It’s sleek!
And at the time, it was amazing on so many levels.
But mostly, it was great because I could drive around or take it to work or have breakfast with it and enjoy Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Sia, Crosby Stills & Nash, Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Cockburn, and, uh, the BBC News theme and ABC’s World News Now theme and….well, you get the idea.
And it was white on the front and chrome-y on the back! And it had this dial-kinda-thing on the front! And it charged with a FireWire cable! And this one works to this very day. Amazing.
